IAAS UNESCO Chair Science Festival
On October 12, 2019, the Chair of UNESCO "Oriental Studies and Africanistics: Modern Methods of Study and Teaching" held an Open Day within the framework of the Science Festival at Moscow State University. Foreign students of the Center attended the Open Day for Russian Language and Culture of Moscow State University and students from the Institute of Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin, who study Russian and plan to continue their studies in Russia at the level of master’s degree. Teachers of the UNESCO Chair demonstrated the film about the work of the Chair, told about the history of Moscow State University, IAAS, and also introduced students in detail to the special educational program East and Russia (comparative research), which is directly related to the goals and objectives of UNESCO to establish intercultural and intercivilizational dialogue. I particularly wanted to note the composition of foreign students. These were students from France, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Japan and the People’s Republic of China. The Open Day established a real intercultural dialogue: teachers and students communicated in several languages: Russian, Western European and Eastern languages, in which teaching is carried out. In addition to the teachers of the department, the event was attended by graduates of the department, who remained to study and work in Moscow, as well as students of the 1 and 2 of the master’s degree course studying under this program. The participants of the Open Day were informed that on September 25, 2019 the management of IAAS was sent a letter on behalf of the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azule on the extension of the work of the department until September 2023 based on the adopted report of the department on work for 5 years.
